Chiranjeevi's Possible Entry Into Politics

Chiru, family deep into films amid party talks

Intense speculation about Chiranjeevi's possible entry into politics has led to spin off benefits for his family members in Tollywood. In between their political work, these family members are busy boosting their filmy career. "The lure is where the lucre lies. They are utilising the opportunity to make hay. They are getting more roles and quoting a higher price, " said an industry analyst.

What is surprising is that even Chiranjeevi __ aspiring to occupy the chief minister's gaddi __ is himself appearing in guest roles. Last week in an hush hush affair he is said to have appeared for a dance sequence at Rama Naidu cine village in Nanakramguda for a film in which his son Ram Charan Teja is the hero. "It was the remake of the song Bangaru Kodipetta, a hit song from the film Gharana Mogudu made in 1992," said an insider source. He added: "It is obvious that the superstar wants to ensure that his son's film is boosted in the box office." For the records, the film's director S S Rajamouli wanted Chiranjeevi to appear in the movie for a longer role but the cinestar refused.

Chiranjeevi's brother Pawan Kalyan and Nagendra Babu are also busy in the tinsel world. Pawan Kalyan is shooting for Puli in which he plays an IPS officer and Nagendra Babu who is touring the state addressing political meetings on behalf of Chiranjeevi is not saying no to roles. " In fact he is getting more offers after Chiranjeevi slowed down late last year. Chiranjeevi's last film 'Shankardada Zindabad' was released a year ago on July 27, 2008. Nagendra Babu is playing the lead role in a film titled 'Ek police' in which he plays a police officer. The film is expected to be released in August.

With more lead roles coming his way, Nagendra Babu's remuneration has also gone up. Earlier, he used to mostly appear in character roles. But this year, Nagendra Babu acted in a 'political' film titled 'Apadhamokkulavadu' which, however, did not make waves at the box-office.
Chiranjeevi's last film 'Shankardada Zindabad' was also not such a huge draw as 'Shankardada MBBS'. But Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa' is touted to have created records in collections in the first couple of weeks.
