Renowned actress Dr Vyjayanthimala Bali has bagged the prestigious ANR award for the year 2008. It was announced by Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, founder of the Akkineni International Foundation, who also claimed that the award includes a memento and Rs 4 lakh in cash. “The 3-member selection panel, which included T Subbarami Reddy, D Ramanaidu and Boney Kapoor, unanimously suggested her name,” says the legendary actor.

He also informed us that his foundation would consider names of not only actors but all eminent people related to the film industry at the national level. “The selection is done on par with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award,” he says. The earlier recipients of this coveted award were Dev Anand, Shabana Azmi and Anjali Devi and now the famed yesteryear glam diva joins the elite club. The award will be presented at a grand function early next month.
