Domalapalli Rajnesh, who had directed Vanaja was awarded the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Award for this year.
It may be mentioned here that popular writer and artiste Gollapudi Maruthi Rao had instituted the award in his son's name, who died while shooting a film a few years ago.
The award was presented to Domalapalli Rajnesh at a function held at Chennai recently. Popular Bollywood artiste and former Union minister, Shot Gun Satrughan Sinha, noted heroine Ramyakrishna attended the programme.

It may be recalled here that Rajnesh had also bagged the best debutant director award at the Berlin Film Festival for his film 'Vanaja'.
After receiving the award, Ramesh promised to bring out many more good movies in future.
