Bollywood & Tollywood actress Monica Bedi, mistress of underworld don Abu Salem, was pronounced not guilty in the fake passport case. In 2001, a case was filed in Koh-e-Fiza police station against Abu Salem, his wife Samira and Monica Bedi alleging that they obtained fake passports from the Bhopal office. Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajay Srivatsav released Monica as the prosecution failed to prove the allegations. He also passed strictures on the prosecution authorities. In another similar case at Hyderabad, she was convicted and sentenced, but obtained relief from the Supreme Court. Her advocate said that his client was free to resume her movie career.
